What is Tarot?

The Tarot consists of 78 cards with three distinct lines. Most would say two lines, but I have found that there are three separate sections of the Tarot.

The Major Arcana- represents significant life themes.

The Minor Arcana- represents the options to help us get through those life themes.

The Court Cards – which can connect us with our inner characteristics or others who demonstrate specific characteristics

The Tarot has been used for many things.

  • A tool for divination
  • A way to communicate with the unseen world
  • A humorous companion aka for fun
  • To predict the future
  • A tool for self-growth

As a therapist, I have been intrigued with the imagery and the fact that these cards hold relatable archetypal images. These images stir up feelings, thoughts, and behaviors that can help us understand our human nature.

The Tarot can help us relate to our history and current times. At the same time, providing us a tool to move forward towards achieving greater peace, prosperity, and compassion for ourselves and others, to name a few perks.

Here at Practicing Tarot, we will be exploring how the Tarot can support us in our lives and in the lives of those we may serve.
